I recently had my ilioinguinal and iliohypogastic nerves cut. After having IC for 2 years I am out of pain. I'm weaning myself off of morphine right now.
I'm so excited about this I am posting it on all the IC sites I can find in case it can help someone else.
I still have some IC symptoms, but they are annoying instead of agonizing. I had steroid and phenol injections on the hypogastic nerve before and received no relief but awful side effects.
Hope this relief is permanent (knock on wood) and that this info can help someone else,
Carol
What an amazing personal IC story!
Hi Carolin,
Warmest welcome to ICadvice! Thank-you for sharing your positive story with us. It's always a like a ray of hope giving sunlight to hear about something which has brought an ICer the much needed relief that they need from their agonizing symptoms. I have no doubt that there are certainly many others out there who can benefit from your personal experience of what sounds like a truly novel and unconventional way of approaching (severe) IC. I've always thought the central nervous system and the nerves leading up to the bladder and pelvic floor area were (are) key components in IC pain (which explains why some types of medications that directly affect the CNS are able to help some ICers), and am thoroughly intrigued by your incredible story, Carolin.
Surely I'm not alone in wondering if this could become a more widespread IC treatment option. Please don't hesitate to share as many details of your story as you wish - you might just be an IC surgery pioneer!
I whole heartedly hope that your intense IC pain/symptoms do not return and that your bladder only continues to get better from here on out. Please stay in touch and don't hesitate to let us know how you're doing.
Healing hugs and wishes of good health,
Jessica

I have IC, but IC doesn't have me!
good news
I am so glad to hear when someone is relieved of their pain. I have been in remission for 6 years and I pray that happens to everyone.
