At the ripe age of 65 I was diagnosed with IC and I can say that never has anything been so painful, the good news is that I am feeling better.Today I will complete my sixth of six bladder cocktails and I suppose we will see what happens.I am a nurse practioner and very much inclined to see what else I can do on my own.My urologist (a woman and the best thing that has happened to the women of central Texas) suggested the Prelief.I am also taking cod liver oil-foung a brand that has absolutely no taste or aftertaste-flax seed oil, the usual vitamins, minerals and glucosamine and chondrotin.
My physician that treats my Rheumatiod Arthritis put me on a gluten free diet and my bowel symptoms have improved significantly along with a myrid of symptoms that go alson with gluten allergy.
Have been reading everything about IC that I can find on the computer and all the help sites except this one want to sell you something.
Will read more on this site today to get advice on these products from the people who have been around this block before me.

Welcome to ICadvice, Claudia!
Hi Claudia,
Welcome to ICadvice, it's wonderful to have you here with us. I'm afraid that this forum isn't the most active one online, but I do check it very frequently and know that some other site members also visit periodically.
Thank you for sharing some of your story with us. I'm truly sorry that you've been having such a challenging time with your health. I must say it's awesome though that you've found such a terrific uro! They are amongst the rarest gems in the medical treasure chest (so to speak).
I personally find Prelief to something of a godsend. I've been using it continually since 2003, as my IC is hugely impacted by what I eat and drink. While Prelief doesn't permit me to consume alcohol or eat a chili pepper, it does make some acidic foods (like tomatoes, peaches, berries) easier for my bladder to tolerate. I also find that it benefits my severe (and very food affected) IBS as well, which is a wonderful plus! While there are some foods (plain rice, plaid oat meal, plaid potatoes, grilled poultry, carrots, etc) that I can eat without the need for Prelief, I do take it with at least one meal a day (most days). I usually take 3 pills shortly before eating, but if a food stands to really bug my bladder I will sometimes take two Preliefs before my meal and two more directly afterwards (I call this a "Prelief sandwich"). But the dosage will depend on your own bladder, so doesn't feel obliged to follow that dosage I take.
Again, I want to extend a warm welcome to you, Claudia. Please feel free to share as much - and to ask whatever - you like here.
Remember you're not alone in your battle with IC!!!
Jessica
